Visitors to the 64,000-acre U. S. Wildlife Refuge near Craterville Park are greeted by this sign at each entrance. The refuge has buffalo, elk, deer, antelope, turkeys, longhorns, and many kinds of trees, wild flowers and birds. Free to everybody.

Custer State Park Buffalo

Custer State Park is "home" for all the buffalo seen in the recent MGM cinemascope picture "The Last Hunt." * This herd is largest in the United States. Because of the large area of Custer State Park — approximately 125 square miles — and because of the buffalo's natural desire for privacy — they often seek out the more remote places in the area.
