This four-lane superhighway divided from end to end by a 20-foot depressed median represents the latest in highway design, construction, and safety. The $160,000,000 Kansas Turnpike was built by private capital without cost to the Kansas taxpayers.

Roads lead to Sugarcreek, Ohio. In the Fall, all roads into Sugarcreek are filled for miles with cars as each Fall, the townfolk of Sugarcreek join with the Swiss cheesemakers of the vicinity in a two-day Festival that has attracted nationwide attention. Known as the Ohio Swiss Festival it features Swiss wrestling, Swiss yodeling, Swiss dancing, and Swiss foods — with the accent on Swiss cheese which is a major product of the community.

SIERRA BLANCA PEAK (12,003 ft.) In summer is covered with wild flowers which attract humming birds by the thousands. During the winter it is covered with snow ranging in depths up to 60 feet. To the north of this peak is the southwest's finest and largest winter sports area. This view is from U. S. Highway 70 in the Mescalero-Apache Indian Reservation near Ruidoso, New Mexico.

The New York State Thruway is the largest toll expressway in the world, the entire system comprises 562 miles of superhighway. Its cost per mile $1,340,000. The average cost for passenger cars is 1¼ cents per mile, 5 cents per mile for trucks.
