Horseshoe Bend National Military Park

The Battle of Horseshoe Bend catapulted Gen. Andrew Jackson ("Old Hickory") into national prominence and led to his being put in charge of American forces at New Orleans in the War of 1812. Friendly Creeks and Cherokees helped Jackson defeat Menawa, the Red-Stick Creek Chieftain.

Cook Forest State Park


BICYCLING and HORSEBACK RIDING are very popular with visitors at Cook Forest State Park on State Route 36 between Brookville and Tionesta, Pa. All roads in the park are available for bicycling while 5 miles of bridal trail as well as several forest roads provide enjoyable horseback riding.

THE U. S. WILDLIFE REFUGE NEAR CRATERVILLE PARK, OKLA.
Visitors to the 64,000-acre U. S. Wildlife Refuge near Craterville Park are greeted by this sign at each entrance. The refuge has buffalo, elk, deer, antelope, turkeys, longhorns, and many kinds of trees, wild flowers and birds. Free to everybody.
