Tournament of Roses Float
"SUMMERTIME," The See's Candy Shops float, was awarded the President's Trophy as one of the outstanding floats in the 1958 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, Calif. More than 60,000 orchids were used to capture the delicate beauty of a butterfly's wings.

THE U.S.A.'S HIGHEST AND LOWEST
Death Valley National Monument
Strange as it may seem the highest and lowest points in the U.S.A. are only 80 miles apart. Mt. Whitney to the west of Death Valley has an elevation 14,495 ft. while a point near Bad Water is some 280 feet below sea level, this being the lowest point in the western hemisphere.
