Old Mission Lighthouse

OLD MISSION LIGHTHOUSE ON THE 45th PARALLEL

At the end of Old Mission Peninsula, 20 miles North of Traverse City, Michigan on M-37, stands the Old Mission Lighthouse built in 1870. Nearby are miles and miles of beautiful drives, picnic areas, gift ships, steak house and cottages.

New Jersey Barnegat Light

 

NEW JERSEY'S FAMOUS LANDMARK

It is the second oldest lighthouse in the U. S. Built in 1856 by Lt. Gordon Meade, hero of the Battle of Gettysburg. When built the lighthouse was over a half mile from the Atlantic Ocean. Now the ocean is at its very footing. Decommissioned in 1929, it is now preserved as New Jersey's most historic landmark. 

 

Cape Henry Lighthouse

OLD CAPE HENRY LIGHTHOUSE

Virginia Beach, Virginia

Built in 1791, it was the first Government Lighthouse in America. Near this site, at Cape Henry, The first settlers landed in 1607.

Historic Lighthouse - Biloxi, Mississippi

This postcard displays a picture of the historic Biloxi lighthouse in an atomic age fish frame. The Biloxi lighthouse was constructed in 1848 and sits in the middle of U. S. Highway 90. Those are mid-1950s cars tooling down the road.
