AT THE ITALIAN SWISS COLONY
The giant caskhead, once a featured part of California wine industry's exhibit at a world's fair in San Francisco in 1939-40, is preserved at the winery. It depicts Bacchus, the Roman god of wine and grape growing, known as Dionysus in Greek mythology. The caskhead is preserved at the winery in Asti, California, 85 miles north of San Francisco.
