ABRAHAM LINCOLN'S HOME
SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS
This home, the only one Mr. Lincoln ever owned, he bought in 1844 for $1500; he later enlarged it to its present appearance at a cost of $1300. This is the original structure (built of native hardwoods with wooden pegs) in which the Lincolns lived until Mr. Lincoln became Prewsident in 1861. Here sons Edw., Wm., and Thomas were born. Home is at northeast corner of 8th & Jackson Sts.
I was able to tour the home on one of the road trips my brother and I made a couple of years ago. The whole street is authentic and quite beautiful.
